ABSTRACT
The rate of absorption of any drug into the body is dependent on the route of administration. Many drugs in preclinical drug development are administered as oral applications, according to the intended clinical route. Due to anatomical similarities of the skin, the minipig is also frequently used as an animal model for dermal administrations (see Chapter 12). Therefore this chapter will focus on these two application routes.
