ABSTRACT

Internetworking as an industry may be viewed as a convergence of multiple industries and disciplines: computer science, information technology, software, and telephony. Many of these industries output products based on national and international standards. Project managers, who have to coordinate the activities of staff from all these industries, did not always have a robust set of standards to guide the development of their work products. Today, the project management discipline is guided by a set of practice standards, many of which have been accepted or are being accepted by organizations such as the Project Management Institute, the American National Standards Institute, and International Standards Organization.
