ABSTRACT

In deterministic decision making there is no uncertainty associated with the data used to evaluate the different alternatives. The analytical hierarchical process (AHP)1 is a deterministic decision-making approach that allows the incorporation of subjective judgment into the decision process. The decision maker will quantify his or her subjective preferences, feelings, and biases into numerical comparison weights that are used to rank the decision alternatives. Another advantage of AHP is that the consistency of the decision maker’s judgment is also quantified as part of the analysis.
