Analysis and Identification of Gum Exudates
Microscopic identification includes preparation of the sample, preparation of the control and examination. e preparation consists of adding water to the sample under continuous stirring to produce a fluid mixture: 5 to 10 ml of this mixture are added to four volumes of 95% ethanol and centrifuged. If fat is present, the precipitate is washed in ether and the gum is re-precipitated.
