ABSTRACT
is a dark brown tick with white markings on the scutum [18]. e larvae and nymph of the tick acquire the virus while feeding on small viremic mammals [2]. e wood tick lifespan averages 2-3 years, and CTFV infection is present for the life of this species. However, only adult ticks, both male and female, are capable of transmitting the virus to humans [11].
