Pulse combustion drying is an emerging technology of signifi cant potential since it is claimed to increase productivity, maximize utilization of the input fuel, enhance heat transfer, and reduce pollutant emissions (Muralidhara and Lockhart, 1985; Mujumdar, 1991; Zbicinski et al., 2002; Kudra et al., 2003; Mujumdar and Wu, 2004; Kudra and Mujumdar, 2007).
