ABSTRACT
From the mid-nineteenth century, a multidisciplinary collaboration began between neurosurgery and engineering. Its goal was to explore and understand the physiological and psychological behavior of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves that make up the body’s complex integrated information processing and control system.
