ABSTRACT
To provide a basis for the arguments presented in this book it seems there should be an understanding of the theories of ethics in general before engaging in a deeper discussion of professional ethics. It is presumed that the reader has a general knowledge of ethics as they relate to civil behavior and perhaps a working knowledge of business or professional ethics. A general description of the more common theories of ethics is provided here both to rekindle the academic appreciation of ethics and to provide a glimpse into how these ideas may be used in this book. In a sense, this overview describes the language of ethics and highlights important concepts addressed in the following pages.
