ABSTRACT
The practitioner should educate the patient about what type of scars they have and what types of treatment are available for those scar types. There will usually be a number of different treatment possibilities to be explained to the patient, along with their potential adverse effects and complications. Possible risks and likely benefits need to be addressed for every procedure discussed.
