Other Indirect Questioning Techniques
Some social scientists are of the opinion that RRTs are too exacting in their applicability from the intended respondents. As a possible alternative they prefer an item count technique (ICT). In this, a certain number G of innocuous items are incorporated in a structured questionnaire asking a sampled person in a chosen s1 sample as to how many of them are applicable to the person. Another sample s2 is drawn independently of the former sample s1 and a person in it is offered a questionnaire with the same G items as the person in the first sample s1.
