ABSTRACT
In the actual application of the randomized response (RR) techniques known till the early 1980s, in a small survey of the postgraduate students in various education centers in Kolkata, under my guidance/but implemented by the trainees as fieldworkers of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), quite a few male and female students gave direct responses (DRs) about their habits anticipated to bear social stigmas, ignoring the RR devices offered to them to ensure secrecy.
