ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION Head and neck malignancies are rare and constitute less than 5% of all cancers in the Western world with an average cure rate of about 50%. When the disease presents early, cure is possible in up to 90% of cases, but the patient may still be symptomatic as a result of treatment and may benefit from many of the management strategies discussed in this chapter.
