ABSTRACT

According to present standards (see e.g. ISO 7730) and directives (e.g. Czech Government Directive No.361/2007 Code) operative temperature is the basic criterion for thermal condition assessment of the environment. It is defined as "The temperature of the homogenous closed space in which a man could exchange the same amount of radiant and convective heat as in an investigated actual thermally non-homogenous space. Radiant Temperature Asymmetry (RTA) is the recommended criterion for nonuniform thermal load on human body, e.g. from radiating window heated floor, heated or cooled ceiling, the workplaces at furnaces in iron and glass works, by the standard EN ISO 7730. It is valid for three categories A, B, C depending on various predicted percentage of dissatisfied people (PPD): A is the most comfortable, for the lowest PPD, C for the highest PPD. An example of prescribed values of RT A is presented in Table 1 (Table A4 EN ISO 7730) (Jokl 2002) (Petras et al. 2004).
