ABSTRACT

Although multiple sclerosis (MS) is a challenging illness, people with MS vary greatly in their levels of well-being and in how they adapt to it regardless of their level of disability and disease progression. In fact, illness and disease factors are typically not strong predictors of well-being in people with MS.1 What seems to be a potent determinant of a person’s well-being in the context of MS is how the individual copes with his or her illness, disability, and related stressors.
