ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT We investigated the usability of groupware in supporting collaborative work at the comprehension level of collaborative awareness. Two groupware, a non-integrated display groupware and an integrated display groupware, were evaluated in a controlled experiment. The results revealed that both groupware were effective, but the integrated display groupware improved efficiency in collaborative work, especially when it involved a two-person collaboration. This is because collaborators could focus their attention visually on the on-going work that enables task comprehension, while maintaining awareness of the cooperative process.
