ABSTRACT

TRIZ is an abbreviation of a Russian phrase meaning "Theory of inventor's problem solving." This theory or framework for inventions was conceived by Altshuller (1946). The purpose of this paper is to analyze how TRIZ design principles can be used for Human Factors Design perspective. The results show that TRIZ can be used to suggest design solutions that save space, reduce task time, increase life length, improve ease-of-use, and improve safety. These are common design criteria used for optimize Human Factors design. TRIZ seems to be well suited to be adopted as a design tool to support Human Factors Design.
