ABSTRACT

Countless numbers of books have been written on the topic of management, but none have specifically addressed the challenge of managing a team of usability analysts. As one usability director and two usability managers of a single group of 16 analysts, we have iteratively refined our approach to management which has resulted in a team that is innovative, cohesive and high-performing. This poster will illustrate the various methods we employ. Specifically, our approach has focused on four initiatives: building and growing a unified team, encouraging customer outreach, fostering camaraderie and communication, and creating opportunities for innovation.
