ABSTRACT

The aim of this presentation is to give an overview of test-procedures concerning measuring perfonnance of office work. Several examinations estimating the influence of raised thennal conditions on thc perfonnance of office work have been executed recently. However in standards and directives the parameters "wellbeing" and "comfort" are considered for the evaluation of the climate in offices. It is important to pay attention to the fact that it is much easier to describe the correlation between physical work and perfonnance of work (e.g. changes in hem1 rate is a valid indicator) than to describe the correlation between cognitive work demands and physiological parameters. The parameters "well-being" and "comfort" correlate with the satisfaction of the workers but not necessarily with the performance at work as well. For practical use it seems to be necessary to pay more attention on perfonnance losses due to sub-optimal climate conditions.
