ABSTRACT

In the practice of stadium designs, the profile of the stands is usually determined taking into account parameters related to the assumed visibility standards. As a consequence, the geometry of tiers and their inclination, as well as the dimensions of steps of the stands and the parameters of radial gangways result from the visibility profile. In such conditions, directives concerning the proportions of steps of radial gangways stipulate only maximum and minimum values of tread and riser. This, in fact, precludes the use of Blonde Is formula 2 x riser + tread = pace length, which is suitable for designing comfortable, safe, and ergonomic stairways.
