ABSTRACT

This paper takes as its starting point the premise that implementation of the ManuVAR solutions will only be effective if the technology transfer is supported by appropriate knowledge transfer and training. The paper has four main foci. Firstly it defines the particular training challenges which the ManuVAR project presents and those challenges which the VRJAR tools must face, and situates this in the current state of the art by offering an overview of the literature and best practice guidelines

in VR & AR training. Secondly it sets out the training concept which is informing the development and specification of the training activities. Thirdly it outlines the framework that will be adopted to face the challenges, meet the requirements and ensure the success of the tools and solutions developed in the project. And finally it outlines the implications for training from the preliminary results of the requirements gathering process.
