ABSTRACT

The chapter presents a usability study related to online shop web page layout. Layout preferences concerning the placement of the most essential elements for such web pages, as shopping cart, item description or tenns of service link, were examined among adult student subjects. Dedicated software, called microSzu, that allowed the subjects to place differently named "cards" across a virtual board, which mimics a web page of an online shop, was used during subjective layout preferences gathering. Statistical analysis and visualization of layout preferences data was performed using another specialized application, micro Vis. Functionality of both applications was described in details, and a preliminary review of some statistically significant differences related to online shop web page layout, based on data collected from Polish student subjects, was also included.
