ABSTRACT

The term vaccine is defined as follows: “A vaccine is a material originating from a microorganism or other parasite that induces an immunologically mediated resistance to disease” [1]. It is now clear, however, that vaccines can be created for treatment of disorders other than infectious diseases including cancer, allergy, and autoimmune disease. The Mims definition may therefore be simplified to “A vaccine is a material that induces an immunologically mediated resistance to disease.”
