ABSTRACT
With increasing complexity in water resources management, the call for Decision Support Systems is growing. In the literature a wide range of “system design theories” can be found. However: do these design theories lead to successful Decision Support Systems for strategic management of water systems? And if they are not successful in all aspects, what are the problems which are encountered and how can these problems be overcome in future?
