High reversibility technique for in-plane stiffening of wooden floors

In ancient masonry buildings the floors and the roofs are mainly made of timber joists and wooden planks. They normally have large flexural deformability and scarce in-plane stiffness. This poor structural performance strongly influences the seismic behaviour of the historical masonry buildings which is often not adequate and it has led, even in the recent past, to heavy damage, building collapse and losses of human life.
