ABSTRACT
Salicylic acid can be applied to the skin in a variety of different formulations ( 16 ). It can be applied as a solution in an alcohol-detergent vehicle or in the form of an impregnated pad ( 17 , 18 ). It can be formulated as a 2% salicylic acid scrub, with clinical data demonstrating a reduction in open comedones ( 19 ). Also, 10% and 20% salicylic acid peels are used to promote comedolysis.
