ABSTRACT

The classification of all possible types of gear machining meshes (see Figure 3.8) offers several advantages: (1) systematization of all known designs of gear cutting tools as well as known methods of gear cutting and (2.) development of novel designs of gear cutting tools and novel methods of gear machining. Numerous designs of gear cutting tools utilizing the advantages of the planar intersecting-axis gear machining mesh are used in industry today. One good example of these tools is the gear shaper with a tilted axis of rotation.
