ABSTRACT
Dešning what we mean by a term is important. In this chapter dešnitions such as palliative care, terminal care* and end-of-life care will be explored and discussed. This should enable subsequent chapters to be put in context with reference to the practice of palliative care, the professionals involved in such care* and the patient groups receiving palliative care.
