ABSTRACT
Classical electrokinetic phenomena (electrokinetic phenomena of this first kind) are caused by the electrical double layer existing at electrified interfaces. Both the velocity of liquid along the charged immobile interface (electro-osmosis) and the velocity of a particle mobile in liquid (electrophoresis) are functions of the surface potential and strength of the external electric field.
