ABSTRACT
Surface conduction is an electrokinetic phenomenon in its own right, but it also plays an auxiliary role in conjunction with other electrokinetic processes. The reason is that upon tangential motion along charged interfaces the excess conductivity of the mobile ions in the electric double layer contributes to flow of charges and, indirectly, to fluid motion.
