4.1 INTRODUCTION

It may also be an elusive thing, something to be pursued at all costs when a smidgen of pragmatism might well be used to cut off the search at a more economically justified level. It can be, as with Jason and the Argonauts, a quest for the Golden Fleece or the Holy Grail-leading designers onward, ever onward, through perils and fogs and by sirens and hidden rocks, like a will-o’-the-wisp, to an imaginary but imagined goal.
