ABSTRACT
It is known and documented that in the early development of plastics, useful products could not be manufactured unless certain additives were incorporated in the polymer matrix. The incorporation of these additives, forming a compounded plastic, overcame the limitations of the raw polymer. For example, the use of heat stabilizers allowed the polymer to be processed and gave the plastic a useful service life while plasticizers also assisted in processing and gave the product elasticity.
