ABSTRACT
Before performing reliability analysis of a unit, it is important to collect failure time data from a test sample and check which statistical distribution best fits the data. Minitab® considers the following most commonly used distributions (probability density functions) in reliability analysis, whose shapes are illustrated in Sections 2.1 through 2.11 of this chapter:
• Smallest extreme value • Weibull • Three-parameter Weibull • Exponential • Two-parameter exponential • Normal • Lognormal • Three-parameter lognormal • Logistic • Loglogistic • Three-parameter loglogistic
Section 2.12 gives a concluding remark. Readers interested in the mathematical formulas of the above distributions
are encouraged to review the handbook listed in the Bibliography.
