ABSTRACT
Ozone has been used in the food and beverage industry for a long time; in some European countries, it has been used for several decades, mainly to treat drinkable water. In the United States, the use of ozone to treat water and other food items has been recognized as a generally recognized as safe (GRAS) additive for about a decade.
