ABSTRACT
The London School of Tropical Medicine was first located at the Albert Dock Hospital. What better place for teaching and research on tropical medicine than at the point of entry into the United Kingdom? The London School championed education in the medical laboratory sciences, which had sometimes been seen as a Cinderella specialty:
