ABSTRACT
Allelopathy is an addition interference (Chapter 11 of Agroecology: The Ecology of Sustainable Food Systems), an interaction in which a plant adds some compound to its immediate environment, which has some effect on the growth, survival, or reproduction of other plants. Allelopathy is quite different from competition, which involves an organism removing a limited resource from the environment.
