ABSTRACT
In most developed countries, consumers have available a wide variety of farm products and fresh produce. But to what extent does diversity in the marketplace reŽect diversity in farmers’ elds? Since most conventional farms grow only a few crops, usually in extensive monocultures, it would seem that market diversity and ecological diversity do not necessarily go hand in hand.
