ABSTRACT

Anatomy of the Distal Forelimb Osseous Structures The radius and ulna are the long bones of the antebrachium. At the elbow joint the radius is positioned laterally to the ulna and at the carpal joint the radius is medial to the ulna. The distal aspect of the radius is the radial styloid process and the distal aspect of the ulna is the ulnar styloid process (Figure 8-1). On the cranial aspect of the radius there are 3 grooves for extensor tendons. The tendons, from medial to lateral, are the abductor pollicus longus, the extensor carpi radialis, and the common digital extensor.
