ABSTRACT
On cats the skin edges are apposed as a bandage is applied. Alternatively, a simple interrupted or cruciate suture of 3-0 monofilament synthetic absorbable suture material can be used to appose skin edges using care not to place sutures through the digital pads. If a cyanoacrylate tissue adhesive is used to appose the skin edges, it should be placed sparingly over the apposed skin edges and not between the edges. On dogs, one or 2 sutures, depending on the size of the dog, are used to appose wound edges.
