ABSTRACT

Abstract: Nylon is moderately hydrophilic in nature. Presence of reactive, acid and basic groups at the terminal ends of nylon permits dyeing with acid, basic, metal-complex, direct and reactive dyes at or below boil. Due to its thermoplastic nature, it can also be dyed with disperse dye in the same way as that is used for dyeing of polyester but with poor wash fastness. Metal-complex and reactive dyes are mostly used for production of all shades. Absence of levelness due to barré may be handled with selection of right dye.
