ABSTRACT

Aromatherapy has become more of an art than a science. This is mostly due to the health and beauty industries, which have taken over the original concept as a money-spinner in the United Kingdom, United States, and almost all other parts of the world. There are virtually thousands of “aromatherapy” products in pharmacies, high street shops, supermarkets, hair salons, and beauty salons. The products are supposedly made with “essential oils” (which are usually perfumes) and include skin creams, hair shampoos, shower gels, moisturizers, bath salts, lotions, candles, and essential oils themselves.
