ABSTRACT
The practice of medicine in the austere environment requires adaptation to a situation in which there are significant deficiencies in basic infrastructure, equipment, supplies, and human resources. This is all the more true for anesthesia, which typically utilizes a plethora of resources in high-income countries (HICs).
