ABSTRACT

Trauma is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Motor vehicle collisions and violence account for the vast majority of these injuries. After the initial resuscitation, successful treatment of traumatic injuries requires a multidisciplinary approach. Injury of the genitourinary (GU) tract occurs not uncommonly, accounting for approximately 10% of all traumatic injuries.1 The kidney is the most frequently injured GU organ, with the bladder, the urethra, the ureters, and the external genitalia in decreasing order of frequency.
