ABSTRACT

A number of factors are to be considered in determining how the laboratory is to be structured. Some of these are essentially uncontrollable by the laboratory manager. For example, the organization may be influenced by the nature of the corporate business or the structure of the corporate entity of which the laboratory is a part. The economic climate, and the promulgation of government regulations that may have an impact on the nature of the laboratory's activities and its operation, also need to be considered.
