ABSTRACT

Claude, who was responsible for implementing the system, opened the discussion by informing the group that his purpose was to inform them of a development in the way samples were to be handled that would be sure to please them. He told them that the laboratory had been concerned by the delays in reporting and was now about to install a procedure that would bypass the slow data handling and reporting system, giving them more immediate access to results; moreover, he explained, the new system would ensure greater accuracy in the transmittal of analytical data. Their interest in the development was obvious. He then described the elements of the new system, informing them of the additional information they would have to supply with their test requests. As he had hoped, there were no complaints and their cooperation was assured.
