ABSTRACT

Consumers in different parts of the world are looking at various issues surrounding GM foods, with a lot of caution. This cautious approach resulted from a number of factors. The highly publicized negative image created by anti-GM groups caused a food scare among consumers and developed a negative attitude toward GM foods. Other possible factors include the limited knowledge and awareness of consumers toward GM foods, the lack of trust in government experts and food regulators, and the difculty to manage food safety due to the increased food trade and globalization (Kim 2012).
