ABSTRACT

In this chapter we will progress to the two-sample t-test. Once again we will be using the six-step procedure to reach a decision about a null hypothesis so the Mest itself should present no problems. There are, however, two complications which cannot be ignored: (a) There are two types of two-sample Mest and we must be careful to

select the appropriate type. (b) Before we can use a Mest to compare two sample means we must first

compare the sample variances using a different type of significance test which is known as the F-test.
