ABSTRACT
Matter exists in solid, liquid or gaseous state. Most of the solid matter (about 95%) is in the form of crystals, and the rest is amorphous. Crystals have all their molecules arranged in completely ordered structures. The diffraction of visible light is used in crystallography to investigate and understand the threedimensional structure of matter, by using radiation of very short wavelength and the Fourier transform to interpret the data.
