ABSTRACT

Izmir is the third largest city in Turkey with a population of approximately three million people. The city has a public transportation system that is a combination of land, sea, and underground networks. The underground transportation system (metro line) is 12  km in length and carries approximately 180,000 passengers a day on average. This chapter focuses on the analysis of operations in metro line via a simulation model. The analysis includes all the phases that a typical simulation study covers, such as data collection, input analysis, model building, verification and validation, experimental design, and output data analysis.
