ABSTRACT

Of t e n , the maze of regulations surrounding the permitting and operation of air pollution sources can be as tortuous as the labyrinth. From a BACT (Best Available Control Technology) emission limit to acid rain credits, these requirements and how they are applied to sources define the conditions under which a source is legally allowed to operate. This chapter will review some of the existing regulations from a national perspective and look to several of the new requirements that will be undertaken as part of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990.
