ABSTRACT

Duplicate copies of the detailed site topographic maps are handy for developing initial plans. Soil types, subsurface formations, hydrologic characteristics, cultural artifacts, utility rights-of-way, biotic components, potential borrow areas, and any other factors identified in the site surveys that could be useful in selecting locations for dikes, water control structures, visitor facilities, and access can be included or prepared as overlays. Including everything on one map will likely clutter the map, so only factors relevant to locations of construction activities should be included.
